No! I've heard a grown-up one - not exactly dulcet tones there! - but never youngsters. Actually I saw a great blue heron flying down into the trees shortly before I took this shot. Handsome birds.
I was really mad at myself about the burn - that was the one damper on a fantastic trip. And I know better. I find it ironic that here I grew up in Hawaii and the worst burn of my entire life - by far - was gotten on an overcast day in Staten Island. Lesson learned.
Publishing? Thanks! That's really nice of you! I'm not that ambitious right now - this whole blogging/photoblogging thing is something of a new hobby, and I work in publishing so I have a pretty good idea of how hard writers work to turn out something publishable. If at some point I was happy enough with something that I'd done that it would make sense to go through all the hoops a person needs to go through to get published, naturally I'd think about it - but I just don't think it's there yet - probably better to just keep it something to play with.
And I guess with an answer like that, it's pretty obvious that the REAL answer to your question would be yes, I have thought about it! :D just have no illusions about the process & the amount of work involved.
*ggl* We hadve Blue Herons nesting all over Santa Barbara. One in the parking lot of the Beachside restaurant. Do park under it! A couple other nests were near City College tennis courts. Did you know baby Herons sound like chickens?
We have a smaller versian at the harbour mouth. Once when Ronnie was President, the Queen visited and couldn't dock because her tender was too big, went back to LA and flew up.
