Staten Island Graveyard of Ships
Some friends and I paid a visit to the Graveyard of Ships in the Arthur Kill as we were circumnavigating Staten Island by kayak on 7/16/05. It used to be that when a ship had reached the end of it's useful life, it would be brought out here to the Arthur Kill and scuttled - sunk in shallow water & left to rust away. We spent longer here than we should have & getting home was a terrible slog - but I'm glad we did.

Great photos...
