Here in Brazil there is a quarter called "Liberdade" ("Freedom") when a lot of orientals live. They had commemorated the new year with a great party here too!!

Chinatown is great, and a must if you are visiting New York. It is unlike any other part of Manhattan.

Turns out I wasn't the only Buzznetter there - So Far From Reality has one of the actual dogs, in quite the spiffiest coat I saw all day (ok, well I didn't actually SEE this one but I saw it here - http://sofarfromreality-chinatown.buzznet.com/user/?id=2223607 )

Actually I was really sorry I wasn't able to get any good shots of the REAL pups that were in this parade - there were dozens of them, all looking freshly washed & groomed & all sporting Chinese brocade dog coat, but it was rea! The owner of one lovely little Corgi I saw after the parade was kind enough to let me try to get some close-ups, but by that time there was so much popping & banging going on that the dog was looking worried - I did get a wonderful look on her face a couple of times by chirping at her, but then a moment later she'd get distracted by another bang from a confetti tube or popper. I wasn't fast enough on the shutter & only caught the worried face.
